The basketball is team play sports which is played between two teams having 5 players in an indoor rectangular court, where each team members are trying to score a mark by throwing the ball into the opponent’s goal, which a raised netted hoop is called as a basket in this game. This team game is one of the most famous and widely viewed sports across the world.

Today youth are very intended to play this team game as passionate sports. But to play this game as a professional game, you need to concentrate on the measurements of the basketball court dimensions. The basketball court sizes vary in length and width depending on the type of league. Generally, the high school court is smaller than its professional counterpart. And also every league are having a different court making dimensions.

When we want to know the most common dimensions for the youth basketball court, then we can go for selecting the FIBA court measurements. The FIBA is the international basketball federation and it is the world governing body for the basketball. This federation organizes and oversees the international competitions on basketball like basketball world cup and the Olympic basketball tournament. This federation covers the regulations that govern the relationships between the different members of the basketball community.

The basic dimensions for the youth basketball court:

The playing court of the basketball should have a flat and hard surface which is free from the obstructions with the dimensions of 28m in length and by 15m in width, which is measured from the inner edge of the boundary line.

All the lines should be drawn in white color and 5cm in width and looks clearly visible to all. The team bench areas should be a market outside of the playing court, which is limited by 2 lines.

The playing court should be limited by the boundary lines which consisting of the boundary lines and sidelines. These lines will not consider as a part of the playing court. Any barrier including the seated team bench personnel should be at least 2m distance from the playing court.

The free throw line should be drawn parallel to the each boundary lines. It should have its furthest edge as the 5.80m distance from the inner edge of the boundary lines. And it should be 3.60m I long. The midpoint should be lying on the midpoint of the 2 boundary lines.

The restricted area is considered as the rectangular areas which are marked on the playing court and limited by the boundary lines. The 3 point field goal area should be the entire floor area of playing court, except for the area near to the opponent’s basket, which is limited by the 2 parallel lines which are perpendicular to the boundary lines.

And an arc of 6.75m is measured from the point on the floor beneath the exact middle of the opponent’s basket to the outer edge of the arc. The arc is joined to the parallel lines, and the 3 point line does not belong to the 3 point area.
